Europe EV & Battery Industry: Revolutionary Change – Or Extinction
26 - 26 February 2025

EIES’ latest paper launch webinar.

EIES’ paper, Europe EV & Battery Industry: Revolutionary Change – Or Extinction , will be presented on the 26 February.

The paper, published by Dunne Insights’ automotive expert Michael Dunne, with the support of EIES, makes the security case for Europe to invest in its EV battery independence, putting forth a roadmap in pursuit of strategic autonomy.

The brief calls for Europe to leverage its market access in trade negotiations with China and to adopt strategic measures to reduce dependency on Chinese imports, while also working towards securing frameworks under which partnerships and joint ventures take place.

The webinar would open with a short presentation by Michael Dunne, and be followed by a discussion moderated by Alberic Mongrenier, EIES Executive Director, and address the following questions:

  • What policies should the EU and Member States adopt to reduce the lag in battery production and supply chains?
  • How can the EU leverage its market access in strategic trade talks with China?
  • How can the EU and Member States close the financing gap and de-risk investments and build confidence in the investment and offtake community?
  • What strategies can localize and sustain Europe’s supply of battery minerals?

Fabrice Stassin, Secretary General, will also present.
