BEPA (Batteries European Partnership Association) is proud to introduce Forward, a visionary consultation process aimed at shaping the future of Research & Innovation (R&I) in the battery sector toward the upcoming Framework Programme & EU-level policies. Forward seeks to identify challenges and propose solutions that will ensure Europe’s leadership in battery sector and related clean technologies.

WHAT:

As the European Union refines its industrial and innovation policy, we have a unique opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of the European battery value chain.
This is a pivotal moment where your expertise and insights can influence the strategic direction, funding priorities, and innovation focus for the coming years.

WHY

  • Addressing Broadening Challenges: The hurdles in our value chain are expanding, and we need a clear, structured understanding of them to inform the decision-makers at the EU level and beyond.
  • Harnessing Rapid Innovation: With the rapid emergence of new technologies, capturing these advancements is vital to staying competitive and securing the support of the public sector.
  • Building a Compelling Case: Stakeholders across Europe, from the Member States to private investors, are eager to understand the role of batteries and the potential for innovation. Your feedback will help us build a compelling case to influence not just European Commission policy but also broader industrial and innovation strategies at multiple levels.
  • A guiding recipe for other EU support mechanisms: The support for innovation and early-stage deployment will not be limited to the next Framework Programme, and other funding instruments at the EU-level demand stakeholders recommendations.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Identify Challenges: Share the challenges you observe in the European battery value chain. These can be broad or specific at the macro or micro level, covering technical, economic, environmental, strategic, business, or organizational aspects.
  • Suggest Solutions: Propose solutions that innovation provides to these challenges, highlighting how innovation can move the sector forward.
